  In scanning, the pertinent term is ppi, or pixels per inch. For photos and other printed media, the maximum useful ppi is 600. For negatives and slides, however, much more is discernible, and they can be scanned at 2400 ppi. Ask for more detail.

  As the name implies, a lossless format does not “lose” data points. Jpg is not lossless because it compresses the data in order to have a smaller file size. This compression is not without cost-each color channel is reduced to a range of 8 bits, leading to less gradual transition in color changes. This is often fine for use online, but less desirable if you eventually want to print the image or zoom in for more detail.

• If loose/boxed slides have numbers on them, then filenames will reflect those numbers

• Except for oversize items, please send all materials in boxes no larger than 13"x17"x13". This helps me to protect your materials while stored in my home.
